‘Then the Lord said to Noah, “Come into the ark, you and all your household, because i have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation.”‘ – Genesis 7:1
God calls Noah, an ordinary man, righteous before Him.
What does this mean? Righteous according to the Law? But there was no law that time. What was God referring to? This title given by God follows God’s command to Noah to build the ark and Noah’s obedience and commitment to Lord’s command (Gen 6:22 – “Thus Noah did; according to all that God commanded him, so he did”).
Imagine how many years it must have taken Noah to build such a gigantic ark to fit in every species of bird and animals, land and water, (Gen 6:19-20). As the time between Genesis 5:32 and Gen 7:6 is 100 years, so most of the scholars believe it took Noah almost a century to build the ark.
Didn’t Noah get tired with this never ending task? Did he think the task was too big or too difficult to be accomplished? Was he ever discouraged by people around him telling his all the time how insignificant was he for the job he was doing? I think this all as a possibly have happened with Noah.
But, in midst of all this, he trusted God and persevered. Regardless of circumstances, time, and people, he just kept on doing the job assigned to him by God and finally, accomplished it.
But, how could he do it all alone?
Yes, Noah was an ordinary man. But, he had faith. Noah’s strength was in his obedience. When he decided to obey, God’s supernatural providence, creativity and design, inspiration, and strength added to his.
Today, you may have some things to accomplish that may seem to be gigantic or impossible to you. Or, you may feel you are just an ordinary person but with dreams and visions in your eyes. It’s Ok!
You are more blessed than Noah because today you have Jesus Christ to take your case up. Just believe that you can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens you(Phil 4:13). He died for your and my sins so that we can stand righteous before God, sinless, blameless, just as Noah.
So, the moment you believe in Jesus and confess from your mouth, you become righteous. When you trust without any doubt, and keep doing according to His will, impossible become possible, mountains are removed as you are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:37).
Though you are ordinary, your accomplishments would be extraordinary as you are not alone. God’s supernatural power and presence, His provision, ideas, visions, creativity will be added to you according to your faith. Remember, our God accomplishes extraordinary things through ordinary people.
You are righteous and nothing is impossible for you. Amen!
