I have been wanting to share this for a long time.. in fact many things waiting to be written about that I am going to share one by one..First of these is Chashme Baddoor, the movie, that I saw sometime back…..
I have been an ardent fan of comedies. The moment I realise there is a comedy going on add to it couple of good reviews , I generally take a chance to watch it and a chance to laugh aloud while no one’s watching me. Only thing i hear is other people laughing along with me. And, even if they don’t, I don’t care. I pay to laugh, so I do. I am suddenly reminded of Pastor Aries, in my earlier church City Harvest Church, Singapore, who hasn’t been to a doctor past 10 years. Because he laughed all the time..he laughed the stress off, he laughed the negative comments off..etc. And he is super healthy. Laughing flushes out all the toxins away.
You know, I feel so bad for those grumpy genes. I look at them and I feel like giving them an injection of laughter even if it works temporarily. They are so engrossed in their own unhappiness and the rest, unhappy by seeing others happy. Remember the dialogue of Raju and Farhaan in 3 Idiots when their friend Funsuk tops the engineering exam. That was funny, true and sad, all in one.
So, after much contemplation and listening to reviews on radio, I decided to watch the new Chashme Baddoor by David Dhavan. Yeah! Same guy who made Govinda’s films. They were comedy too. But, most of it was slapstick that I never liked. ‘Cause that won’t make me laugh.
So, if one expected, and many of us did too, Deepti Naval’s sadagi ( innocence), Farooq Shekh’s bholapan, Rakesh Bedi’s and Vivek Vasvani’s originality, they could and must’ve been disappointed. But, I had already heard that warning from Radio Mirchi and conditioned my mind.
So, i went for the sake of laughter. And, i laughed to my heart’s content, so much that somebody remarked from behind “Arre bhai, ye kaun itna hans raha hai?” ( who is laughing so much). As I watched, my memories of the old version came alive. There had not been too much of connection between the characters of old and the new, except the story. It was old wine in new skin..okay! Okay! It was Sai Paranjpe’s spirit in David DHavan’s Body!
But, I liked this one too. Good situational comedy and lots of David Dhavan movies styles dances..Ali Zafar was impressive as always. He reminds me of old film heroes, each having ones own style. But, my true stars of the movie were Rishi Kapoor and Lilette Dubey who just immersed in their characters Joseph Furtado and Miss Josephine. Seema was good and the new Jai & Omi were funny enough. Don’t apply your mind, just simply laugh.
I won’t mind buying a CD of it! But, this time i bought DVD of Old CHashme Baddoor. Recommended watch..Both of them!
